Strategic Planning

Oregon Symphony

We designed and managed a strategic planning process that involved a first-ever collaborative effort among the disparate interests involved in the Symphony.   Unique aspects of the planning process were two Symphony Family Meetings where more than 100 people -- management, staff, artistic directors, orchestra, board members, and volunteers -- met in half-day workshops to agree on goals, objectives and strategic directions for the Oregon Symphony.  For many, it was the first time they had actually met each other (musicians and board, volunteers and staff, etc.).  The resulting strategic plan and specific implementation strategy is a model for consensus-building and collaborative decision-making for arts organizations.  It is being followed more than a year after its completion.
