Visioning

Visioning

Medford Vision

In the first phase, we facilitated work sessions of a Vision Initiating Committee appointed by the city to define the purpose, scope and schedule for its city-wide visioning process.  We advised the committee on visioning models, mechanisms for community outreach, and other aspects of visioning and strategic planning.  We also supervised conduct of an opinion poll and developed and compiled a community questionnaire.

For the second phase, we managed and designed a visioning process that engaged an unusually broad array of citizens.  Elements included a youth component that attracted nearly 500 young people and was widely publicized in the media; weekly meetings of citizen task forces to develop plans for specific issues; well-attended community-wide meetings; translation of all materials into Spanish; and a visually attractive final document that became the basis for priorities and work plans adopted and being followed by the City Council.

The project received the Award of Excellence for Public Involvement from the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2), Cascade Chapter.
