Great Communities and UGB Expansion
In partnership with Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas Counties, Metro worked with a team of consultants and an advisory panel of experts to define what attributes should be considered when the regional Urban Growth Boundary is expanded to help ensure “Great Communities” are created.
This list includes attributes not currently considered in the hierarchy of land need. The recommendations included economy, schools and complete communities, among others.
The work lives on in rulemaking currently underway to implement a bill passed by the Senate: SB 1011 in 2007.
